Few months back WhatsApp revealed its plans to initiate an integrated voice calling feature for the App which was a big news back then, The amazing application is all set to excite you yet again. It has been over a year since Facebook has acquired WhatsApp now. The Social media giant had plans of integrating WhatsApp with Facebook since the time it bought the chatting application which have finally started to prosper and it has started testing the initial phases of the integration. It came into picture on Saturday that Facebook has begun testing a brand new feature for its Android App that majorly included the applications integration with WhatsApp.
Facebook has added a new button with the WhatsApp icon which is a part of the status bar action buttons that appear when you update any status or picture on the social media site. The button is a part of the latest version the Facebook Android App and appears on the right side of status buttons bar for some users as it is under tests as of now. After acquiring WhatsApp it was inevitable that the applications will work in close proximity for each other’s benefit and will integrate feature to enhance the user support and experience. The surprising fact is that it took a long year time for this integration to happen despite of the fact that now both are working under the same company.
Back during the day time Jan Koum, WhatsApp’s co-founder that nothing was going to be altered after the acquisition and both the platforms will continue to work independently just like the good old days. Till date there was no hint of anything and also there was nothing observed about the integration of two platforms instead Facebook was busy promoting its messenger application especially after the announcement at F8. After seeing these pictures all we can understand is this is just the beginning of the mighty fusion and soon we will find them working together for the betterment of the company and also to rule the messaging market altogether. There is news that teams from both the departments are already working on the ultimate integration and soon your apps will have the ability to send cross connected messages between Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.
The integration will be a major benefit for the company as WhatsApp listed 700 million monthly active users at the time of its acquisition by Facebook in February last year and on the other hand Messenger now has 600 million monthly users although most of them use both the applications but still the integration sounds mighty with those huge figures. It would be really amazing feature if you could send messages on cross platforms making it pretty easy and handy to be in touch with all the social connections that one has. It took one year for this news to arise so we can only sit back and anticipate what more surprises does this fusion has in belt for us.
