Google today confirmed that the offline navigation feature it showed off at Google I/O 2015 earlier this year as now available Android-only devices. The Search-Giant also mentioned that they are not yet ready for iOS and haven’t mentioned the exact date for iOS.
To use offline navigation, you will first have to download the part of the map that might be handy during your journey and next time you find there’s no connectivity, Google map will still continue to work seamlessly, may it be a country road or an underground parking garage. You can also access information about places, view place ratings while offline. Interestingly, once you have downloaded the section of map, in the case of no data, app will auto switch to offline mode. Over time, Google promises to provide much more offline features. Till then, lets enjoy the current update.
